Road Closures

Saturday - Road closures and special event clearways for the Australian Running Festival will be in place along the 5km and 10km course. All roads will be re-opened by 10:30am. See the below table for specific times and locations of road closures.

Sunday - Road closures and special event clearways for the Australian Running Festival will be in place along the 50km route. All roads will be re-opened by 1:30pm. See the below table for specific times and locations of road closures.

Access to Local Businesses & Attractions

Managed access has been arranged for local business and attractions along the race course.

Taxis & UBER

Taxis and UBERs will be able to drop participants near the start line on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday

  • King Edward Terrace
  • Parkes Place West  

Sunday

  • Langton Crescent - access from Commonwealth Ave travelling southbound.
  • Kings Ave - access travelling northbound only.

Parking

There is ample parking within walking distance to the race start and finish area.

Saturday P2 - Treasury Building East Car Park- Access from Parkes Place West
P3 - Questacon Car park - Access from Queen Elizabeth Drive
P4 - National Gallery - Access from King Edward Terrace via Kings Avenue only
P5 - John Gorton Building South & East Car Parks - Access from Dorothy Tangney Place
P6 - National Archives Car Park - Access from Kings Avenue
Sunday P1 - Treasury Building West Car Park - Access from Langton Crescent southbound only
P2 - Treasury Building East Car Park- Access from Parkes Place West
P5 - John Gorton Building South & East Car Parks - Access from Dorothy Tangney Place
P6* - National Archives Car Park - Access from Kings Avenue

* Please note the Southbound lane on Kings Avenue will be closed for participants. To reach P6 please access Kings Avenue from State Circle.

Please note all attendees to the Australian Running Festival should be aware that it is an offence under the National Land (Road Transport) Ordinance 2014 to park a vehicle on open space in the area where the Australian Running Festival is being held. Open space is any area that is not designed for the movement or parking of motor vehicles, such as grassed areas, footpaths and landscaped areas. The National Capital Authority will be enforcing parking regulations for the duration of this event, and attendees should ensure they park legally to avoid the risk of an infringement being issued to their vehicle.

Due to the early start time for the event and road closures please visit Transport Canberra for up-to-date information.

Please note that there will be no event specific shuttles provided in 2017.

Walking

If you are considering walking to the start area, it will only take approximately 30 minutes from the city via Commonwealth Avenue to the start line.
